With no niche selected, a member is visible to the whole base platform pool — e.g. every Affinity member, or every Excite member.
Within a platform
Choosing a niche narrows visibility to a smaller, shared-interest group within the platform — tighter than the general pool.
Within a platform
Exclusive niches go furthest: the member pool contains only that specific interest — completely walled off from the base platform and every other niche.

Some niches can be made exclusive, isolating the member pool to that niche alone with zero crossover to the base platform.
